collegiate student government campaign

in april of 2019, i ran for director of public relations at my community college. i won the position but ultimately did not follow through. i designed two campaign posters in four languages.

i incorporated a pencil because its symbolism aligned with my potential duties as a director of public relations. i would be responsible for shaping the public image of my school government and, to do so, i would be writing stories. i also happen to be a firm believer that the pen[cil] is mightier than the sword.

i used open sans here.

admittedly, i felt the photo i chose was a rather cheesy element. (i still do.) however, i wanted to be more approachable and more transparent, to be more than just a name mentioned in a command on a piece of paper.

with the exception of the text in the main icon, i used raleway. translating my poster to vietnamese entailed "expanding" the font to account for unavailable characters. i snipped bits from other fonts so i could stay true to my style and to the vietnamese language.

budgetary constraints led me to do without all of the colored elements. i colored and drew them in myself with marker.
translated posters were not a requirement, but displaying them alongside one in english was. i definitely made myself more accessible and more obnoxious.
