Unlike their counterparts in the Global North, a majority of children growing up in the Global South do not have the opporunity to play and interact with contemporary toys. With this in mind, I designed a cost-efficient (in terms of production costs) and an environmental friendly product that is functionally versatile to remain revelant in the course of a child's early childhood.

 

In addition, building off of the class project's prompt, I integrated the subject of mechanism into the theme of my product. 

Utilizing simplistic and easy to obtain material, wood and masionite, I aimed to create an affordable (cost-efficient) and substantially environemntal friendly toy that is educational while enabling self-expression. Specifically targeting children between the ages of 5-9, my product intends to develop a child's sense of color, motor abilities, and interest in acquriing new knowledge.
