13 Days of Violence: Food Performance

Food designer Miguel Olivares believes that food as a medium can spark a dialogue about violence and ways to begin healing. This food experience focuses on educating the participants about violence against women by the act of eating dessert. Through out history dessert has been designed to cleanse and delight as a final course. However, what if we start this process before the course of violence starts? How might we develop preventative behaviors to educate individuals about the damage of and reparations for a violent act?

The food experience developed around these musings involved a menu and choreography as a guide to the utensils, and platforms used to eat the desserts.
