Cardoss to Balloch via Gouk Hill

Cardross to Balloch via Gouk Hill
This was a walk that followed the old coffin road from the village of Cardross on the banks of the Clyde, to the town of Balloch on the shores of Loch Lomond, with an added detour on to the John Muir way as far as Gouk Hill which lies on the Highland Boundary Fault. It is Conic Hill's often overlooked opposite number. Although a little short height-wise, the views are beautiful, and you can get the summit to yourself!

The walk takes in a variety of scapes, starting with a tarmacked road past country homes, then a gravel track that cuts through fields and forestry. When you start your descent through Stoneymollan Muir you'll also find the last remnants of the original coffin road before you finally end up back onto a proper road as you approach Balloch.
