Besides the characters that inhabit it, New York City also has it's very own strong visual identity.
Here's a collection of images I captured that try to highlight some of the visual features that most inspire me about this city.
For some shots, I used a 400mm lens to better capture some of these details, while in others a wide 35mm was better suited. Most were photographed under flattering 3pm sunlight to maximize separation from the background. The goal is always to treat the city as it’s own character, but here the extreme isolation of features seems to drive the point across better. It’s something I’ll be exploring more of moving forward.
