10月16日は、世界食糧デー!先月から参加させていただいている「Adobe Creative Residency Community Fund」の委託プリジェクトで、世界食糧デーのイラストを描きました。

I'm so happy to be a part of the Adobe Creative Residency Community Fund 2020! Thank you @adobe for the support!! Here is my commission work for the 16th of Oct, World Food Day.
And also I had a chance to have 5min speech about my artwork in Adobe Japan event at the same day, Oct 16, 2020. The following images are from my slide show. I want to share them all to introduce what I have done so far and what I want to do with other creatives in the future.

Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in what I am thinking and want to collaborate with me!
Hello everyone, my name is Chiaki. I’m a freelance illustrator working in Japan with many domestic and international clients.
I graduated from Parsons School of Design in New York with a Bachelor's degree in Illustration. After graduating, I couldn't get any freelance work immediately so I started working  as an office assistant at an illustration agency in New York City.  There I had a chance to learn the basic concept of the illustration business.

After graduation, I couldn't get a freelance job immediately so I started working as an office assistant at an illustration agency in the city. There I had a chance to learn the basic concepts of the illustration business.

After returning to Japan,  I had a variety of different jobs.  And all work experiences were helpful in enabling me to become a freelance illustrator.

My illustrations have been featured in various print and online media such as ELLE Online Japan, Vogue Japan, among others. While I love illustrating, I also enjoy developing illustrations for packages, murals, kitchenware and stationery.

I always listen carefully to what my clients want and create something that will enhance their brand image.
These are some works I have done recently.

The first was a product for a Japanese organic cosmetic brand, called naturaglace.

I created an illustration for packaging for a product that was released in March. The company wanted a colorful and cheerful image using some different materials in order to represent the sunshine in Spring.
Another job was for SPUR.jp which is an online fashion magazine.

I made a couple of gif animations for a special fortune telling page.
My client wanted to make the page happy because it was released just when the Coronavirus infection had spread in Japan.  So I made gif animations capturing  a moment showing how people can spend a happy and relaxed at home.
I also worked with a department store, called MYLOAD in Honatsugi last year.

I painted a mural for the whole floor of the food market. It took me two weeks to complete the mural with the help of my generous friends.  It was the biggest and most difficult work I have ever done but I learned so much and it meant a lot for my artistic career.

As you can see, I have a wide range of illustration styles. My clients are from many industries such as fashion magazines, everyday home goods companies and department stores.
I love exploring new styles of illustration and this is something I enjoy when I travel. Traveling is one of my life’s enjoyments and whenever I travel, I always take my sketchbook to capture the moments. All the places I visit give me new inspiration and encourage me to try new styles of drawing to express the uniqueness of the places.
My purpose of illustrating is always to express a great diversity of ideas, cultures and lifestyles around the world by using various styles and materials, such as digital drawing, watercolor or acrylic painting and line drawing.
When I was growing up, I was introverted and spent a lot of time drawing alone.

Before moving to New York, I thought the city was rich with diversity but the reality was more than I expected. There were many immigrants from Mexico, India and Greece living near me.

The diversity of New York exceeded my expectations and I wanted to capture that in this personal series, "The Locals of New York City A to Z."

I wanted to express the various cultures and lifestyles through my illustrations to promote more diversity in the society.

Thank you so much for reading!
